TOP CHEF THE GAME HOW TO
Of course, this game won't teach you how to cook, but it might serve as some inspiration for some real-world experimenting of your own. Necessity is the mother of invention, so it's not unusual to just throw together seemingly odd choices to come up with dishes that actually sound appetizing like raw beef salad with green beans and apple dressing, or grilled lobster with zucchini, peas, radicchio, and Vidalia onion sauce. There's a mad alchemy that goes on while you play, though. If you find yourself screwing up, the good news is that you can just quit out of the game and restart the session. The goal is to create five-star dishes, which is a challenge as those require you to be dead-on with blending the right ingredients to complement one another. As you finish each step, the final product appears on a plate in the corner of the screen, along with the number of stars it has earned. Once that's done, it's time to tackle the entrée, and that might include preparing a garnish and the entrée itself. Once that's clear, you need to prepare the different components of the salad again, each of these might require several ingredients. For instance, when making a salad one of the first things you have to prepare is the dressing, which might require two or three ingredients. Preparing a dish is a multi-step affair, and the larger the meal, the more steps there are. So, yeah, chicken and garlic work great, but what happens when your flavoring choices come down to chili and sardines? There are some powerups that let you "reroll" various ingredients, but they have limited uses per session. However, the challenge comes down to the fact that you must work with the ingredients that the game gives you, and in that regard it's almost unpredictable as it randomly chooses what you get to work with.

There are even some helpful hints about what ingredients work best with one another, like chicken breast and garlic. At the beginning of each segment you're given a challenge or theme for the meals you prepare. Or, more accurately, you're graded by their likenesses they're represented by hand-drawn, 2D avatars that fit in with the rest of the game's simple presentation. Each episode is divided into three segments, and at the end of each segment you're critiqued by host Padma Lakshmi and head judge Tom Colicchio. You play an aspiring chef who wants to be top dog, but in order to that you must work your way through 15 episodes of the show, tackling cooking challenges that task you with creating savory dishes that fit certain themes. That mad scientist approach to cooking is at the heart of Top Chef: The Game, which is based on the popular television show on the cable network Bravo. You throw together all sorts of ingredients and cross your fingers that the finished product is edible and delicious. Anyone who has ever spent time in a kitchen knows that it's more than a bit like a laboratory at times.
